Pastor Joel Ministers in Russia
The weather was cold and dreary. Ice still
covered the lake where we stayed reminding me, "I
not in Tennessee anymore!" The warm spiritual
atmosphere made everything else seem like minor
inconveniences.
We started every morning with our hour of prayer.
My guests were very excited to worship God through
song. Each service two of them lead praise and
worship time with enthusiasm and joy, often adding
hand gestures to songs.
Our preaching and teaching times filled the
mornings and evenings. We covered such subjects as
the Holy Spirit, revival, prayer, fasting, and
faith. Each day they took extensive notes on
each subject and then compared notes with one
another to make sure that they didn't miss anything.
In the evening we had church. They again
prepared the praise and worship times and I preached
from the Word of God. Then we closed our day
with at least one hour of prayer. The last
couple of days we were able to move our evening
prayer times outside and enjoy the beauty of country
side.
Thank you to all who prayed. It is a
looooong trip. I spent too many hours trying
to stay awake in Russian airports so I wouldn't miss
the next flight. Every day I thought of Psalm 23,
"He leads me beside the still waters," and would
look out over a lake frozen in June somewhere in
Siberia and say, "God is Good!" I would
think about someone praying that Psalm for me not
knowing that God had truly answered their prayers! I
was refreshing for our guests, it was empowering for
every student and it was greatly encouraging to
everyone.
The Lord be Praised for his grace supplies all
that we need, when we need it and for the purpose
that He gives it.
